Feather your Nest Friday, 24th October, 2025.
It is just me or do you think this year has gone by really fast? It is almost November! My lists have sub lists!
There is a lot to remember so I will start with today. It was a beautiful day and I took several dozen eggs into town and came home with spring onion plants, radishes, broad beans and there was also free rhubarb! The swap tables are amazing!
In the thrift store I found a whole set of Debbie Meyer green boxes. These are not common in Australia but I bought some once when I was searching for containers that keep fresh produce fresh for longer. The set I got today would be about $100 here. And produce season is around the corner. I need to give them a good wash but this is awesome! (I paid $5 for them.)
Earlier in the week I got free lemons! After making a big lot of Lemon Butter and using some up... more arrived!
This week was Toms 5th Birthday.
As usual Chloe made a beautiful cake, although most of her kitchen was ripped out. But she still had an oven...
This was a gorgeous afternoon. Lily wore her new best dress. 😊
Everyone scoffed good food and took home leftovers!
Things are going well in the garden. We had both sunshine and rain.
I got three new fruit trees to fill some spaces in the orchard. They are apricot, quince and plum.
Over the weekend it is meant to rain. This would be great!!
I finally completed another quilt block and I am into another which I absolutely love and can't wait to finish!
At least I am back on track!
Tom had his afternoon of activities while the little ones sleep.
Due to Chloe's kitchen situation we made the dinner. The first was meat balls, cherry tomatoes and chopped capsicum. (Then pasta sauce over the top.) Tom did it all and was in charge of the cheese topping hence... a lot of cheese!
I got dinner for a few nights too!
Then he made jar deserts which were the lemon butter, whipped cream, a meringue and strawberries. He chopped a lot of strawberries! I resisted urges to tidy them up as he felt like such a legend make the WHOLE meal and a special desert for each family member.
Chloe said at dinner time he was very proud to have made everything. At this point she had no sink... so this all was a big help!
I went through the present cupboard some more. I have a whole heap of these chicken kitchen towels to match up with dish cloths. They are in four chicken designs. Lucky I have a number of chicken loving friends!
Now I need to make a list of all the names with what I have and what I still need. I am not to the bottom of the present cupboard yet... but close. I made more than I thought! And the cooking hasn't started yet!
Every year fruit cakes become some of my gifts. It might be fruit cakes tied up with a kitchen towel....
So that is my week. Lots of lovely things I am grateful for.
How did you build up your nest this week? It all counts, big and small. Christmas goes so much better for me when I start early. This is why we begin in January!
Have a restful weekend, we are all working hard and need to recharge! xxxx
