Feather your Nest Friday, 4th July, 2025.

Happy 4th of July to all our American sisters!  Welcome to a new month!

It has been a huge week with lots crammed in.  Partly this was because from Monday morning I tried to try and squeeze as much goodness out of each day as I could.  I didn't really do anything different other than to think this way about it.

So here goes:

I had gorgeous op shop finds.  Dreamy things that I just love.  The picture on the right I thought was a Saint.  I had to have it.  Now I know it is a painting of Jesus when he went missing and was in the Temple.  So at twelve years old.  (The original depicts him teaching in the temple.)  It is painted with such love and beauty!

Also two lovely prints for the top house.

I started the week with filling my biggest slow cooker with a turkey carcass,  celery from last summers garden,  bay leaves from Mum's tree, parsley from my garden, onions I was given...   I let it cook all night.  I needed up with three litres of beautiful stock.

I shared some, froze some and made soup with some.

As pumpkin cooked down for the soup I pinched some out and made two lots of scones, with cheese.

The kids just love these.

My cook up was a heap of chicken schnitzels and veggies.  I had two meals and Chloe's family had a meal.

I finished Lily's skirt and bought a little warm top to go with it.

I completed my third quilt block.  The star is much more obvious.  I cut the fabric to show as many roses as possible!

Now I am understanding the addiction factor as while I was sewing this I picked out these colours for the next block and was just itching to get to cut it out!

I was given beautiful patterns.  These are very helpful for me!!

I have lovely cottons to make Lily things for summer.  So being given patterns is just fantastic!

I ordered some cotton sheets on marketplace.  My idea is to use sheets as quilt backing. These are 2 x 2.5 x 2.3 metres. They are huge.  They have never been washed or used.  It is working out only a few dollars per meter and beautiful quality.

With them are two pillowcases.   Since this set arrived I bought two more.  Oh my goodness they are soo beautiful and again it is only a few dollars per meter.  One set is king size.  Also pillowcases.  All brand new but on market place.  I am going to save all these pillowcases and add embroidery or trims as gifts.
The other two patterns I can show next week.  They only arrived today.  But now I am in love with this way of getting fabric and I think some of the older cottons may be better quality than some of what is in stores.

I am collecting eggs and more eggs...

I made Honey Gingerbread biscuits for the kids.  They always eat these up.

It was cold!  I had the fire going 24/7 and if it goes out over night it's like a crisis lol.  The boys bring the wood up to the back door...

I was given absolutely stunning fabric as a gift.  I have run out of day light but will show I photos next week and in the club.  I feel very blessed.  💖

My eldest Grandson had a graduation this week from Kindy to big school.  I took a trip to be there and it was so sweet. The school made each child feel so special and he was so proud!  I took him two graduation gifts, a dinosaur lunch box and dinosaur pencil case.  Well,  he was happy about everything. 😊
Best of all he is very confident about his new class and new teacher after the holidays.   I like this very kind and smooth transition for him.
I got home after dark but avoided all the wildlife and the fire didn't even go out!  Success!  🔥  Mind you I was so tired I couldn't sleep.  Does that happen to you?  Like a child gets over tired and ridiculous... I can be the same lol.

So I am very happy with my week and really hope it was equally good for you!xxx
