Feather your Nest Friday, 6th December, 2024.
We are really on the count down to Christmas now! It has been a good week. We had some more rain which is a big help. The garden is starting to produce and as I was making some meals yesterday I added zucchini that I had just picked.
This is a super easy tray bake everyone likes. It is just fill a tray with meatballs and cherry tomatoes. You might make the meatballs... I bought these. Then you throw over some tomato sauce... again homemade or store bought it doesn't matter!
Sprinkle with grated cheese, I like to be generous.
Bake for 30 or 40 minutes and in the last minutes brown the top.
I made 5 trays. A huge on for Chloe's family. Two that are going to be part of a Christmas present. Two for me which equals 4 dinners... one was frozen. The ones that went into the freezer are uncooked just assembled. It is very easy to thaw and bake them. Fresh basil over the top is a bit fancier and really yummy. It added to my ready meals freezer supply.
Chloe gave me some lovely lemons.
In my pantry/shop I have a huge tablecloth over the old desk. The desk is handy as a cutting out station or work table. It was also pretty average to look at. The things you can hide under a tablecloth! So there is storage but it now fits in with my vintage kitchen and hides everything!
I am still having fun crocheting cotton wash cloths.
Chloe, Tom, Chase and Lily came over this afternoon. Earlier a Praying Mantis was outside so I put him in a jar for the boys to see. Then we let him go in the garden and they were able to study him up close.
He sat on top of the jar and was in no hurry.
Then we picked a few little tomatoes as the boys love these.
I had my first little Christmas gathering. My lasagne bake up from last week fed everyone plus leftovers for us all. The added gift of another meal no one has to cook!
I made up a double batch of Miracle Cleaner and filled my spray bottles plus a couple of nice glass bottles. One is going to be part of a gift. (With crochet cleaning cloths.) Do you know of the expensive concentrate sprays? There is a Fairy one and a few other brands. They are actually amazing for baked on gunk on top of the stove... baked on baking dishes and other hard core messes. But they are about $11 a spray bottle. Miracle Cleaner undiluted is very much equal to a concentrate. If you would like the recipe go to The Bluebirds are Nesting, Clean and Fresh. Your home smells so good and never again do you need to buy supermarket cleaners!
It is sunset now and there are some very black clouds out there. A bit more rain wouldn't hurt! I would be happy!
I hope you had a good week and found ways to save and build up your nest. xxx
Annabel, What a lovely week you have had. Celebrating together is such a blessing. So happy to hear Justice is doing well.
ReplyDeleteI had a full week here, we had our second Thanksgiving with family on Sunday, more cooking and baking for it and husband made Turkey Italian Wedding Soup. The adult kids were so happy, they look forward to it every year and getting leftovers to take home. Everyone went home with huge bags of leftovers and we have had enough for 3 more meals for us.
I had Physical Therapy one day and followed by Acupuncture the following, needless to say that put me out for 2 days. Though the following day I felt spectacular and was cleaning and baking like mad.
I used the leftover stuffed acorn squash in muffins as it was stuffed with dried cranberries, walnuts, brown sugar and maple syrup.
I had sent out Christmas cards, so I felt ahead of the game and have all the gifts that have been delivered so far wrapped. Husband has the front porch decorated so we are down to just setting up 2 trees inside.
I worked on my squares for an afghan and am up to 64 completed, so getting there.
We also celebrated our 30th anniversary this week and husband surprised me with cards, 2 glasses with Happy 30th anniversary on them, a necklace with a pearl and roses. He also took me out to dinner, our big splurge of $13.99 per dinner with enough leftovers for 2 more meals for us. He knows I prefer affordable meals.
This next week is cookie dough assemble and tree decorating. Along with shopping, crocheting and baking.
Happy anniversary, Rosanne! 30 years is wonderful.

Happy Wedding Anniversary! It sounds like a wonderful day. Love, Bridget
DeleteDear Annabel, your week was a very good one. Especially that a big part of your beautiful family was there. You see, even the Praying Mantis was not in a hurry to leave! I love how Justice shows her personality and your family table, with Christmas vibes already!
ReplyDeleteI do not feel any Christmas feelings for now. What I will write may sound pathetic but google it, there is no exageration in my words. This Sunday is the last election day, exactly the last chance between freedom and darkness, between Europe and Russia.
For the last two weeks my husband and I were working 10-12 hours a day and twice we went out on the streets protesting for about two hours in the cold and dark, fighting for our future and my boy*s future, protesting against what we are already threaten with. Last night in Bucharest was a pro-democracy rally entitled "Romania hopes: a Pro-Europe rally in the University Square in Bucharest, 3 days before the 2nd round of the presidential elections. Artists, writers, public figures, activists and people who do not want Romania to leave the European Union and NATO were out there. Our big actor, Victor Rebengiuc, who is the equivalent of British Laurence Olivier in my opinion, with a career of 7 decades on theatres and movies has received death threats because he atends the rally, other public persons, jurnalists, have received open public death threats. Russia is extraordinarly cruel and inteligent. Beware!
It is the worst situation since 1989 and it is very sad. I don*t believe that is happening, honestly in Romania nowadays is the best that ever was. We have internet, mobile phones, online commerce, holidays abroad where ever, food and hot water, the liberty to speak and not agree with someone. I do not understand how easy people are manipulated. Already the economy is affected, the national currency is weaker and the prices are higher, and the other countries declare themselves worried about the situation here. It is like Georgia, people are out protesting against Russia.
I am not very coherent, I don*t think I have slept for the last two-three weeks, and everybody around me is anxious. I refrain myself talking to anybody, there are persons around who will vote for the nazy guy, and fear begins to show, just before 1989. It is so much hate in some people.
On the home front, the news are also bad. Sunday night a polecat has killed almost all my chickens and my beautiful emerald drake, the other duck is not eating and just lays down most of the time, one golden lady is the same, I keep an eye on them, and the rest of the chickens, only three, are somehow better, they start to eat and drink little by little. I have moved them and almost sealed the 3 meter cage they are in for now. I am looking for some other plans/coop/run for them, although their home was a beautiful big place it is not safe anymore. I cried a lot after my beautiful chickens, some looked like jewelry, you know. I felt like I let them down.
The weather is still cold, dark and wet.
Dear Annabel and Bluebirds, I salute you all this Friday from my beautiful world and we will see how it will turn out. Keep me in your prayers.
With much love,
Laura_s_world from Romania
Dear Laura, my heart aches for you. We too have lost livestock over the past little while, and it is a terrible feeling. I keep looking at my little place and asking what I could have done differently to keep them safe and well. The truth is - we all do our best with the resources, time, and information we have. It's easy to say I could had had a better coop, or I could have tried this or that - but honestly, you could have done all that and still had the same thing happen. So please be kind to yourself. All you can do is take a breath, dive in and save what you have. The birds will have had a terrible shock, and I found ours took a few weeks to calm down and start laying again. Much like humans, love and care after trauma is the only thing you can really do.... Keep on keeping on. I think Amy Fewell had a recipe for chicken supplement that might help - I'll see if i can find it, but I feel like it was a tiny bit of honey and apple cider vinegar in their water... Missy
DeleteI think of you daily, Laura. May democracy and freedom ( both taken for granted and in peril all around the world) win.
DeleteMuch love to you,Patricia
I think of you daily, Laura. I hope freedom and democracy survive in Romania, both are being attacked all over the world, including my own country. Sending you much love,
DeletePatricia
Dear Laura, I went and read up on Romanian news and see now what happened since the winner was declared and now cancelled. I can see it is very volatile and uncertain. Also you can sense what is in the air which is something I cant do but if you feel it then its real as you have experienced it all before. I will be praying. I am broken hearted too about your duck and chickens. I am not even familiar with polecats so I googled about them. They look a lot like a ferret which is what I have to compare it to. These are vicious meat eaters. I hope you can get the coop so that one cannot possibly get in because these animals tend to come back... for me it is foxes. These will dig and climb. They are relentless. And I have lost chickens and one day my daughter and the girls went to collect their hen eggs and every single chicken was dead. They were so traumatised. Dont give up. Eventually I think I have won with a vermin proof coop. The fact you are not sleeping... I know you work hard and long hours so I pray you will sleep. I am so sorry for the week you've had. Please dont give up. We are all with you and I would say many are praying for you even those who do not comment. With love Annabel.xxx
DeleteUpdate from Laura_s_world from Romania
ReplyDeleteThe elections for president were cancelled. For the first time in our history. The nazi guy has been proven with his ilegal procedures. This is the news of the minute, kind of releived for a moment, but this creates a precedent that is dangerous for democracy. I don*t know many other things for now.
Have a nice weekend
Dear Laura please know that many of us in the world see the danger you are in and do care. The world is a strange place these days. I’m so sorry for your losses this week. Best of luck to you and I’m sending you hope that democracy will survive.
DeleteLaura, I will be praying for you and your countrymen. There isn't a lot I can do practically but I am going to write to my Member of Parliament and ask what the UK government is doing to support Romania and her people and how we can support democracy and remaining in NATO etc. All we can do is raise our voices.
DeleteSending hugs to you as you strive to see beauty around you
Penny in the UK.
Laura, you and your family will be in my prayers in the days to come. It is a sad time for the whole world, and I worry about our country as well with the changes coming in January. It's heartbreaking when anything happens to our animals. I had five chickens die for various reasons over the summer and it still bothers me. Please try to find some joy and get rest over the weekend. Judy in Maine
DeleteDear Laura, it is very kind of you to update us with everything that is going on. News outlets show very little of the real stuff going on. I pray for Romania and for the world. Love, Bridget
DeleteThinking of you Laura as I have been following the Romanian news with concern.
DeleteHello Annabel and everyone,
ReplyDeleteThank you for the instructions for the meatball tray bake, Annabel - that looks so good and would be a hit here, too. My dad loves meatballs. Your crochet cloths are so pretty and so is your table! The kids would have been so interested in the praying mantis. A couple of summers ago I had my own close encounter as one fell out of a tree onto me when I was trail riding my horse - I may have shrieked a little bit.
This week I put up and decorated my trees, made a big batch of curry chicken, started shampooing the carpets (the ones I've done look so much better), sent out my Christmas cards, and went through my closet for things to donate. I took advantage of the after Thanksgiving sale and ordered 1 more greenstalk planter - this year I'd like to fill one completely with greens and now I can. Still harvesting some chard although it is quite cold at night now. A little progress was made on my knitted shawl. This weekend I have some bananas to use up and would like to start making sweets for Christmas.
I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend.
<3
Kathy
Dear Kathy, Your Dad would love this and be a good little freezer meal for him too! The Greenstalks you have already have been so successful! I have a similar thing and I also love them! Your trees would be beautiful and cleaning out and donating unwanted items is lovely too and kind of refreshing for the home and season. I love that we both are finding ways to still celebrate and appreciate Christmas. I am also going to make some fudge, coconut ice etc. and Im looking forward to this! It is so nice having little gifts to share around! I think you are doing brilliantly well! With love Annabel.xxx
DeleteAnnabel, the meatball casserole looks so yummy and easy to do. I love your freezer meal ideas. They are so nice to have handy when you need to share a meal with someone or in a rush to get a meal on the table. I am already thinking next year gifting…Miracle Cleaner is on the list…so I ll be keeping an eye out for pretty bottles ! So glad Justice is continuing to thrive!
ReplyDeleteOur autumn was so warm, really felt like a nice long Summer …but this week we are pulling out the coats, with suddenly - oh where are my fav lined gloves, and I can’t find my black headband….lol, just adding to the crazy holiday season. We have our tree, household decorations and exterior lights on the house. Truly not over the top, but we are perfectly content to keep it simple. We are looking forward to attending with our son and his family the nearby town(22,000), lighted Christmas parade. So ho ho no, here we go!!
Thank you so much! Some cleaning cloths and miracle cleaner are a lovey gift! I LOVE Christmas lights and a Christmas light parade sounds BEAUTIFUL. Your house sounds absolutely lovely too! the effort is worth it! xxx
DeleteThat looks like a very tasty pasta meal!! I’ve made medlar jelly (some jars as a gift). Have a blessed weekend. xEsther
ReplyDeleteThank you Esther! I think preserves are beautiful gifts!xxx
DeleteThank you for another Friday letter. Your new bake up sounds delicious. Glad Justice is doing so well. Your tablecloth covering your desk with the flowers looks so nice. You are ambitious as always accomplishing so much and have so many great ideas to share! Thank you! Have a great weekend..........Nancy
ReplyDeleteThank you Nancy! You have a lovely new week! xxx
DeleteAnnabel what a lovely week. First I love your tablecloth it's simple, but gorgeous. I make something similar to your tray bake when the gardens are going, but I make it on the stovetop, but it is so delicious! This next year I might try freezing some like you do.
ReplyDeleteA praying mantis is a wonderful thing for young boys to inspect and such a good learning experience. And I love your round washcloths they are so pretty.
I'm making progress on my gift sets for the DiLs , almost to the finish line.
Winter is definitely here with the weather being cold now and my favorite thing is to see the birds hanging out together on the grape arbor chattering at each other.
We're making good use of all of the free wood and the house is nice and warm but unfortunately the supplies for the bathroom reno are still in the living room taking up space which is making holiday decorating hard.
I would love those lemons! Whenever I drink fresh lemonade I always feel pretty good! It's good to help flush out toxins.
I'm doing a little of this and that, but those little things add up.
I hope everyone has a beautiful week.
XOXO
Vicky
Dear Vicky, I knew the tablecloth was right up your alley, the ruffle and soft colour. It looks so much better now! I think now it is really wintery you will get more time to sew and crochet! It was certainly busy with the garden and harvest.
DeleteYes I would say you have to ask for the dining room to be cleared! You always do beautiful Christmas decorations in an old style I love. I cant wait to see! With love Annabel.xxx
I really enjoy reading your post every week. I took on a full-time teaching job this year, coming out of retirement of six years. Having a well stocked pantry, including freezer has been a godsend. Your example inspires me to try to stay ahead. Every weekend, I cook something that will feed us several meals throughout the week because at my age teaching third grade is not as easy energy wise as it used to be. I love your pictures and especially the encouragement. Wishing you many blessings, Marley from the Appalachian Mountains of Virginia
ReplyDeleteDear Marley, Third graders are gorgeous but yep it would all take a lot of energy! Cooking extra meals at one time helps so much and so do the frozen ones. The more the better! I know after Christmas I will have a lot of leftovers and I hope to make up ready roast dinners from some. Roast dinners are always delicious and they freeze really well. I find all of you encouraging as really we are all working away and sharing how we are doing is just so nice! With love Annabel.xxx
DeleteChristmas is so close now, I haven’t felt as Chrismassy as I usually do, then it occurred to me that this is the first Christmas where I have had no children at school!
ReplyDeleteOur youngest finished year 10 last year and is working, so there are no school assemblies, no frantic end of year parent/teacher interview, no concerts and no Christmas parties! Which is a wonderful thing on one hand as life is slower paced as a result, but I hadn’t realised how much these activities added to the atmosphere of Christmas! I’m sure I’ll be more prepared for this feeling next year!
I’ve been picking a few blueberries and a giant zucchini that got away on me it was made into 2 zucchini breads. I baked our Christmas cake this week, and did a little more Christmas shopping.
We are attending our daughters uni graduation in Launceston this coming week, so it will be a full and busy week visiting/holidays!
Have a lovely week Annabel and bluebirds 🪺
From Cheryl
Dear Cheryl, I really remember how busy December was with the school assemblies and award night and parties and so on. And kids were tired and worn out by then!
DeleteZucchini is so versatile! Zucchini bread sounds great. I finally am doing well on Zucchini this year! Also Blueberries would be wonderful.
Have a great trip, how wonderful your daughter is graduating! With love Annabel.xxx
I have a question about Justice. I always see calves hanging around with their mothers, so I assumed they are social animals as well as knowing where the milk comes from. If so, how does Justice do with not having a mom (except you, Annabel!). Does she interact with other cows and calves?
ReplyDeleteYou had quite a week! I'm taking my daughter to a free Christmas concert Sunday afternoon at the college.
--Maxine
Dear Maxine, Yes cows are very social plus the calves hang out and play together. Justice has the cows come up to the fence and talk to her but she is surrounded by dogs, chooks, birds and humans. She seems happy as she wags her tail and skips and bounces around playfully. When Ive had lambs the calves and lambs snuggle up together but no lambs currently. A Christmas concert with your daughter sounds beautiful. Much love and many hugs, Annabel.xxx
DeleteDearest Annabel, my mouth waters looking at that meatballs bake ! Delicious ! I'm wondering if you've a recipe for some as at the butcher here those size meatballs are $40 a kg !! Ridiculous! I love how you make nutritious warming meals for your family and such thoughtful gifts too ! We aren't really giving gifts this year ! We are having the whole side of salmon from aldi this year as we did last year $17 for a huge piece which feeds many people and is already filleted) vs Coles who have it for $32 a huge difference!! Also a turkey breast roll also $17 at Coles $28.! This will do us many meals with several salads and fresh cold fruit like watermelon for Christmas day with plenty of leftovers. With love, Sonia. In Sydney NSW
ReplyDeleteDear Sonia, Your Christmas Day menu sounds beautiful! And I love to have left overs! Jamie Olivers son Buddy has a little video on you tube called Buddy's easy meatballs, Buddy Oliver. It's only a few minutes long. It's very versatile. Cheap if you get the veggies on a decent price, flexible... if you made it you could divide the meatballs up to how many you would eat per meal and freeze them in packs and have a supply. Also when you do have left over veggies this would be a good time to make them. I find baking meatballs like I do in a tray they keep their shape perfectly which sometimes they stick in a pan and dont hold together as well. I hope this helps! With love Annabel.xxx
DeleteHi Annabel
ReplyDeleteYour first Christmas gathering table looked lovely and the meatball tray bake is a great idea, I'm going to try and make space in the freezer for some more homemade ready meals. Lovely to see the grandchildren.
I didn't comment last week as we had people to stay for five days, nine adults and a little girl in the house, I was tired from prepping everything but happily the spare bedrooms had a thorough 'spring clean' and we are ready for Christmas guests now too. I cooked several meals and we ate out too to spread the load. Our homegrown butternut squash has been so useful for soups, roasted vegetable tarts etc as we had a couple of vegetarians staying.
I made a huge bowl of coleslaw as my contribution to our floral groups Christmas lunch. I made a big batch of dry mix for the parsley, lemon and thyme stuffing for the turkey. Its in the freezer ready for Christmas Eve. It's my late father's recipe and I like to make it every year. We have extra guests coming for Christmas dinner and if they have offered some help I have accepted. Someone is bringing their homemade pudding, others are bringing the Christmas crackers, homemade cranberry sauce etc. It's nice to share some of the load.
This week has been setting the house to rights and shopping in person and online. We are in the middle of another storm, very windy and alerts for danger to life in some areas nearby. As always we are stocked up with firewood, food and have several new rechargeable lanterns now since the last storm.
Best wishes to all Bluebirds.
Penny in the UK
I hope you are ok in the storm, Penny. Love Bridget
DeleteDear Penny, I heard about the storm! It sounded dreadful. I hope you didnt have any damage. You did very well yo look after ten houseguests! That is a lot! I have a recipe of my Nans that I make every Christmas too. It feels very special to keep it going like with your Dads recipe.
DeleteI agree that if everyone contributes something it all comes together in a much easier way. Our family is doing this too.
I am glad you are well prepared for the storm! With love Annabel.xxx
Your weekly updates are something I look forward to Annabel! Especially when I have had a busy week, reading about yours is such a joy. That really is lovely to be able to send everyone home with leftover lasagne!
ReplyDeleteWe have lots of events in for the end of school year. They are all exciting but definitely require good time management. There’s a week left of school and I’m really forward to it all finishing so we can slow down. These are times where a meal plan is gold. Knowing you’ll be rushed to get dinner sorted is fine when you’ve put the slow cooker on in the morning! I bought some corned beef on special as that requires so little prep and is absolutely beautiful if left to cook all day.
I’m still knitting washcloths for teacher gifts. Tied up with some pretty Christmas ribbon and a boxed soap they look nice.
I’ll bake lots this week, I’m sending my son to camp with some cookies and brownie, and will also bake gifts for some teachers etc.
I hope you got the rain you were expecting, it’s just started here.
Have a lovely week
Jen (NZ)
Dear Jen, The wash cloths will be a success as they are in the shops and expensive! We set the trend hey! And corned beef is fabulous to let simmer all day. The baking for the camp and for the teachers gifts will go down well too.
DeleteI cant imagine how busy you are as I had two kids and their respective parties and school events etc and that was pretty busy. Also I found the kids were worn out by the last day of school and well and truly ready for a collapse. As was I! Thank you for your kind words! I will plan some fudge and coconut ice next week I think. With love, Annabel.xxx
Dear Annabel, those meatballs look delicious. What a fabulous meal! Thank you. I have been under the weather this weekend with a virus, so haven’t been up to much. But I hope to make this this week. I love how you make such beautiful meals for your family. Your wash cloths are so pretty. I haven’t been feeling too Christmas-sub this year but have realised as long as I pray more and be thankful to God for what we have then that is ok. I’m continuing to work on the blanket. If I watch something at night out it comes lol thank you for your beautiful encouragement and kindness. You made such a huge difference to our world. Love, Bridget
ReplyDeleteHope you feel better soon Bridget and for your comment to me about the storm, it's still raging and roads are blocked with fallen trees but we're not going anywhere!
DeletePenny in the UK
I am glad to hear you and your family are safe. The storm would be a worry and I’m thinking harder because it is cold too. I am thinking of you.
DeleteDear Bridge, I am sorry you havent felt well and hope you are heaps better. I think holidays cant come soon enough. Yes if we crochet a bit each evening this soon adds up!
DeleteIt has been a tough year for many of us. Or that would be an understatement. And not just us here, everyone. This to me means we need Christmas more than we ever did. We need hope and joy more than ever. So I will pray that you are uplifted and encouraged. In the second week of Advent John the Baptist came ahead of Jesus to prepare people. We are preparing ourselves and waiting expectantly! I really hope you are feeling better! With much love Annabel.xxx
Dear Annabel and Bluebirds,
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing your week and your progress on Christmas. My week has been full. I finally finished training for my new job and am working nights. It has been a challenge for my entire family. The children work on their school work while I sleep.
I collect or make Christmas gifts in my spare moments. I'm so thankful to God for strengthening me during this time. Many in my household have been ill with bacterial pneumonia this week as well. But God is healing them. 😌
While I pray and morn with Laura and others; I too ask for prayer.
The reason I have to go back into the workforce is because my husband is in the early stages of vascular dementia. I had to have a family meeting with my children to encourage and instruct them in dad's diagnosis. So I ask for prayers. My children (ages 11-26) have to struggle with watching their father (firsthand) lose his mind. He does have his good days.☺️
Love and prayers, Leslie in Ohio
Dear Leslie, may God give you good health to take care of your family and I will keep you in my prayers in this hard times. All the Bluebirds are here to help you. A big virtual hug from far away, Laura_s_wolrd from Romania
DeleteDear Leslie,
DeleteOh I am so shocked. I wondered what was up. You are being very heroic about it, re training and going back to work. And to have sickness in the house as well! I am so sorry. I hope you dont get it!
I hope there are treatments to help slow down your husbands illness. Having all the children understand what is going on is hard as for the youngest it will be hard to understand and for the older ones it will be a shock too.
I hope you can get enough sleep in this new routine... which I would think will take quite a while to adapt to. I will be praying as your whole life and "normal" has been turned upside down. Leslie I hope there is help available to you whether its support groups or medical or practical help and that your church family also is helpful. Many hugs to you my friend. With love Annabel.xxx
Leslie, I am sorry to hear of your husband's illness and the impact on you and your family. I have travelled this road with a close family member and looking back I realise I needed to ask for more help. Please ask for help, accept every offer of help, contact the charities and clubs that offer information, counselling, support etc. and know that you are doing your best.
DeletePenny in the UK
Dear Leslie, today I lift you up in prayer for you and your family. Lord, I pray for Leslie, you know she's had to return to work as her husband is sick. Lord , I pray Leslie will reach out to dementia support groups and hotlines where she lives. Lord,.please give her a good rest when she can sleep ! And lord, carry them all through this time ! In Jesus name I pray, amen !

Would you tell me what degree you set the oven to and approximately how long it takes to bake the meatballs? It looks amazing!
ReplyDeleteDear Mandy, Pre heat oven. About 180c which to me is a medium oven and for a small tray give half an hour then brown the top but up to an hour for a large crowded tray. I think you want the cheese one top to be golden and bubbly. I hope you like it! Love Annabelxxx
DeleteDear Annabel, I plan to make the meatballs bake this week ! Cheaper fore to buy the meatballs, add the tomatoes, zucchini I sourced from aldi for $3 for six decent size ones. I will add a tin of tomatoes and a jar of ALDI pasta sauce
ReplyDelete.sprinkle with cheese and bake ! I bet the taste is so good ! I was reading back to "save like Nana did"..I want to learn croquet , nothing on summer tv. I be better off learning this skill than watching mindless tv ! I recall my Nana would also listen to the radio, she was a fantastic cook, would also have her best tablecloth and China out when we visited even if it was bread rolls and salad in summer , or soup in winter. ! I adored my mum's parents who were there for every birthday, concert, school award etc . I loved spending a whole Sunday with them listening to their stories and wisdom ! It's been six years since they left this earth at 95 but I miss them each and every day. ! People aren't made like that anymore ! I would love it if you could do another Nana series !! P.s I saw zucchini slice at Coles ready made in a box for over $25 can you believe that ??. Have you any more Nana recipes ? With love this Christmas and always,.Sonia in Sydney !
